The Park Is Being Restored
A $40 million EPA-mandated sewer upgrade is currently underway to stop sewage from flowing into Lake Glacier — one of Mill Creek's most iconic landmarks. This is the largest environmental remediation project in the park's modern history.

Why This Matters
As you will hear in Chapters 5 & 6 of the history tour, Mill Creek Park has been shaped by more than a century of conservation stewardship — from Olmsted's original vision to the work of volunteers who rebuilt the gorge trails by hand. Today's sewer project continues that legacy. When complete, Lake Glacier will be cleaner than it has been in decades, restoring aquatic habitat and water quality for the entire watershed.
